FIRE RISK ASSESSMENTS

 

The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Safety Order 2005

  • This order reforms the law relating to fire safety in non-domestic premises which came into force on the 1st October 2006
  • This new legislation applies to all non-domestic premises with only a small list of exemptions
  • This order is intended to reduce the burdens on businesses by consolidating and rationalising exsiting Fire Safety legislation
  • There is a requirement to identify Duty Holders "responsible person" in relation to the premises, who will be responsible for
  1. Fire Safety duties
  2. Fire risk assessment and recording significant hazards where there are five or more employees
  3. Fire Safety arrangements
  4. Safety assistance
  5. To comply with the duties imposed by the order
